Incantations
from the Sargonic Period
- 4 Incantations
-
The small number of extent incantations from this period, two Sumerian
and two Semitic,
make it difficult to draw generialzations and conclusions. [1]
Two of the
incantations given as having the aim of curing illness, while a third
represents the earliest extent
love incantation, [2] the purpose of
the forth is uncertain. In these incantations for the first time Utu
is referred to
as judge, and the giškin (kiskanu) tree is used as a as divine purifier.
